Aux Merveilleux de Fred.

Aux Merveilleux bannerThe Marais is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris when it comes to food and art. I love to wander around between the charming streets and enjoying the smell of falafels. For the people who don’t know that much about the Marais, let me give you a few key words: art, food, history and shopping. Four things that go very well together. Today I’m going to write about a bakery which fits perfectly in the lifestyle of the Marais. Say hello to Aux Merveilleux de Fred!

First let me tell you why I think this bakery has all the four key words I told you about:
1. Art – The pastries look like little art works.
2. Food – You’re stupid if you don’t eat them.
3. History – As many iconic bakeries in Paris, also Aux Merveilleux de Fred has an interesting history.
4. Shopping – If you buy these beauties, it counts as shopping!

The mastermind behind these delicious pastries is Frederic Vaucamps. A french man who opened his first bakery (1982) in Hazebrouck, a small town very close to the Belgium border. Frederic Vaucamps had to work very hard for his success because only 15 years later he achieved great success with the remake of the old recipe of the merveilleux pastry. He turned a forgotten pastry  into a refreshing new concept, meringue surrounded by chocolate whipped cream and chocolate chips. Mmmmm, if I only think about it, I feel the meringue melting on my tongue!

Today Aux Merveilleux de Fred has many stores all over the world. From our beloved city Paris to the big apple of New York City. The success of this bakery? You tell me! I think it has to do with their way of specialization. One store for one product (Actually two products, they also sell brioche loaf in different flavors). You know the quality has to be good when you put so much love into your pastries. What makes it even more special is that you can see how they create the pastries, they bake them in an open space.

All together, enough reasons to try one at Aux Merveilleux de Fred.
Check out their website for the store locations and more information about their company.

Watch the world go by.

Watch the world go by copyDo you ever ask yourself the question, ”am I doing the right thing with my life?”. Well I do, and I can tell you that it’s a pretty hard question to answer.

Just when you think you’re in the right place, mother nature turns the earth and you’re lost again. I have the feeling that I’m stuck in a maze. I know where to go, but I can’t find the right direction. Art school is teaching me all new things, but please believe me when I say that I’m dying for some more sleep and a little less stress. They are killing me over there!

Most of you know that my dream is to study for a while in Paris and gladly my school can help with that, so I know where I’m fighting for. Still I feel very sad about the fact that I don’t have any time left to write about my biggest obsession in life…Paris. I miss you guys so much, I love writing for you and share everything I know and discover. You guys are amazing and have left so many great comments on this blog that kept me motivated every day ♥

Sometimes I dream about my future. Living together with my lovely boyfriend and staring out the window with a little cat next to me. I still want to work hard. I want to write, draw, talk, read, learn, teach, edit all day about Paris. Share my stories and feelings about this beautiful city till the day that I die.

The only thing I have to do is to be patient and remember that we all have to work hard to achieve our dreams and that’s not a bad thing, only a bit frustrating sometimes ;) So, am I doing to right thing with my life? I don’t know jet, but I hope that I can answer that question in a few years…

Again, apologies for the lack of posts, If I have found a little time I will think of you. Do you guys think to me then?

Sweet dreams everyone or a really good morning ♥

Weekly Photo Challenge – Scale

BarbieI like to scale things up when I’m in Paris. Just because of the fact that Paris is full of hidden treasures that are worth to take a closer look at.

I found this ”beauty” in the streets of Belleville, an area in Paris located between 4 different districts: the 20th, 19th, 11th and 10th district. Belleville was formerly an independent town separated from Paris. The name Belleville means beautiful city. For now Belleville is an non touristic area, but I think that will change in a few years. That’s because Belleville is an upcoming area with lots an lots of hidden treasures! I’ll soon tell you more about the best places in Belleville.

Sweet dreams everyone or a really good morning ♥

Paris Photo Fair, Grand Palais.

Explosion+w+Road©Shirley Wegner

I‘ve noticed that I have a lot of followers who are into photography and into Paris as well. So, good news for them because this weekend is the 18th edition of the Paris Photo Fair! The fair takes place on a beautiful location, namely the Grand Palais located in the 8th district of Paris. That’s nearby the Champs-Élysées so don’t forget to visit the Christmas market.

The fair is a great opportunity to discover new artists and meet new people who have the same interests as you do. You can walk there for hours because 169 galleries will expose their best works! I’m a bit sad that I couldn’t be there this weekend, because I would like to admire the work of one of my favorite artists: Shirley Wegner. She is mostly known for her large-scale photographs of landscapes that she creates by herself. For me are the big explosions the most impressing, but she has also amazing art pieces of paper. The rest of the artists of the Paris Photo Fair can be found by using this link.

This fair is only from the 13th till the 16th of November and a ticket costs €30,00. If you want to take a closer look at all the photographs, you have to visit Paris this weekend ;) Check out their website for more information or to buy your tickets online.

Sweet dreams everyone or a really good morning ♥

Tell me the stories if you have been there or to share your favorite artists!
